Roundabout Construction at Valley Road and Highway 6 Begins May 2025

A new roundabout project at the intersection of Valley Road and Highway 6 in Gypsum is underway. Hwy 6 will remain open though the duration of the project but access to roads on the north and south side of the intersection will be limited at times and there will be changes in traffic patterns through intersection. Due to lane shifts and turn lane closures, drivers must stay alert and follow all signs & flaggers in the work zone.

Beginning July 21, access to roads on the south side of the intersection will close to all through traffic. This includes closure of Valley Rd., Eagle St. and the entrance to the High School. Hwy 6 traffic will be rerouted through the north side of the intersection until mid-August. Please follow detour routes (see detour image above and description below) for access to the municipal campus and areas south of the Valley Rd./Hwy 6 intersection. A flagger will be placed at Railroad Ave. and Hwy 6 during work hours to assist with left turns on to Hwy 6.

While the full roundabout construction will not be completed by mid-August/the start of school, a functional roundabout will be in place, allowing traffic to flow through the intersection once again. The entire roundabout project is expected to be completed by October 2025.

Detour Information for Accessing the Gypsum Municipal Campus
(Town Hall, Library, Recreation Center, and local events)

• From the East: Most drivers will need to exit in Eagle, take Highway 6 west to Cooley Mesa Road, and then proceed to Valley Road.
• From the West: Drivers can still exit in Gypsum, but must follow the designated detour through the construction zone. Turn right onto Jules Drive, then take Cooley Mesa Road to Valley Road.
