Project Name: Cooley Mesa Road Widening

Date Started:  March 2026

Project location/address: Navajo Road east to the south entrance of Costco. 

Project Status: Paving and striping are now complete. Crews are currently finishing punch‑list items, placing boulders, completing cleanup, installing signage and delineators, and final grading. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of August, and no remaining impacts to travelers are anticipated.

Projected completion date: Summer 2026

Project Description: Schofield Excavation Inc. is reconstructing Cooley Mesa Road to two through lanes in each direction from Navajo Road east to the south entrance of Costco, connecting the existing four-lane sections on both ends of this corridor. Auxiliary turn lanes for left and right turns will be added at the entrance to Siena Lake. The bus stop at Navajo Road will also be improved. An additional water line is also being added for system resiliency. Schofield Excavation, LLC has paving scheduled from June 30th to mid-July.

Construction is expected to take place from Spring 2026 through Summer 2026. Throughout most of the project, two lanes will remain open, with minor traffic shifts and occasional single-lane operations outside of peak traffic hours.
