Cooley Mesa Road Widening

The image shows a map with road improvements, including new lanes, transit stops, and a water main installation.

Project Name: Cooley Mesa Road Widening

Date Started:  March 2026

Project location/address: Navajo Road east to the south entrance of Costco.

Project Status: Under construction - Speed limit has slowed to 25mph during work hours, then become 35mph after hours. Initial work includes clearing and grubbing, waterline installation, and the Alkali Creek culvert extension. During the week of April 6th, Cooley Mesa Rd. will be closed in both directions until April 11th. Siena Lake residents will still be able to access their homes eastbound only with a right turn in and a right turn out.

Projected completion date: Summer 2026

Project Description: The Town will be reconstructing Cooley Mesa Road to two through lanes in each direction from Navajo Road east to the south entrance of Costco, connecting the existing four-lane sections on both ends of this corridor. Auxiliary turn lanes for left and right turns will be added at the entrance to Siena Lake. The bus stop at Navajo Road will also be improved. An additional water line is also being added for system resiliency.

Construction is expected to take place from Spring 2026 through Summer 2026. Throughout most of the project, two lanes will remain open, with minor traffic shifts and occasional single-lane operations outside of peak traffic hours.
